The tawny owl is nocturnal so it is often heard calling at night, but much less often seen. In the daytime, you may see one only if you disturb it inadvertently from its roost site in woodland up against a tree trunk or among ivy. The tawny owl has been elusive and we don\u2019t have a photograph yet! We have had reports of volunteers spotting the owls and hearing them around the top end of Ten Acres alongside Ashbrook. However we have also heard it ourselves at the farthest end near Cartland road. We expect they utilise the whole site for hunting. It is suspected there may be a partner. We can confirm the current identified owl is male according to expert Owen Selly who listened to the captured owl hoots and verified the find and thanks to Kay who captured the call using Bird Net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
