Yesterday’s Summer Fun Day at Harvest Green was another action-packed adventure for the kids—and a fantastic way to spend a sunny July day outdoors.
Our young explorers kicked off the day learning essential outdoor skills, starting with fire making using ferro rods. It was a great hands-on activity that built confidence and patience as the children practiced striking sparks and gradually worked their way up to lighting dry grasses and birch paper. There’s something magical about creating fire from scratch, and the kids were proud of their bushcraft skills!
Of course, no Summer Fun Day would be complete without our usual dose of games and laughter. Archery made a return by popular demand, and the kids took turns aiming and improving their skills with impressive focus. Frisbee (a forever favorite) kept the energy high, and we even introduced the group to a new game—Kubb, a fun mix of strategy and throwing skills that had everyone smiling.
Midway through the day, we paused for a well-earned lunch in the shade. We focused on healthy and tasty snacks —crunchy sugar snap peas, fresh cucumber slices, juicy blueberries, crisp apples, breadsticks, and even a bit of raspberry Sorreen for a sweet treat. The kids enjoyed a Caprisun to wash it all down while resting and chatting.
After lunch, the creative energy kept flowing as the children worked together to build shelters using natural materials. It was inspiring to watch them collaborate, experiment, and problem-solve as their structures took shape among the trees.
All in all, it was a day full of exploration, fun, and friendship. We love seeing the kids engage with nature, learn new skills, and build memories they’ll carry long after the summer ends.
Until next time—more sunshine, more laughter, and more wild adventures!
