This Friday, our volunteers rolled up their sleeves for a good old-fashioned pathway maintenance day! The goal was to keep our routes clear, safe, and welcoming for everyone who visits — because a well-maintained path makes a world of difference for accessibility and enjoyment.
Armed with tools, enthusiasm, and plenty of tea breaks, the team got to work trimming back overgrown edges, opening up the light levels, and reducing boggy pathways. It’s one of those jobs that might not grab headlines, but it quietly keeps everything running smoothly.
Of course, no volunteer day is complete without a bit of unexpected excitement… this week’s came in the form of a slight saw mishap! Thankfully, no one was hurt — just a reminder of how important it is to have good-quality tools and adequate maintenance budgets to keep everyone safe and productive.
A big thank you to everyone who came along and persevered through saws, mud, and all! Your work helps ensure the pathways stay open and enjoyable for everyone year-round.
As always a massive thank you to the National Lottery for thier funding that made this possible! (And the replacement saw possible!).
