Last Friday, a dedicated group of volunteers joined us for another rewarding day along the River Rea, working to restore and protect the Lost Orchard in Ten Acres, Stirchley.
Each year, this beautiful spot faces the same challenge — weed trees and brambles quickly take over, crowding out the fruit trees and reducing biodiversity. Our volunteers spent the day carefully clearing these invaders, giving the plum trees the space and sunlight they need to grow and thrive.
It’s hands-on, sometimes muddy work — but it’s also deeply satisfying. With every session, we’re helping to shape a healthier, more resilient ecosystem and making the River Rea a truly cohesive and beautiful wildlife corridor that connects green spaces through Birmingham.
