Bat Walk 1: 7th July 2022

2

We had a fantastic time on our bat walk and were excited to not only hear bats but to see them too flying right over our heads!

Here is a list of the species we found on site according to the Echo Meter 2 – a wonderful bat detection system that displays the bat calls in real time, translates them into sound we can hear, maps their GPS and auto – IDs the bats.

Some of these ID’s are stronger than others so we will be revisiting the Barbastelle and Noctule spots on our next walk and seeing if we can get closer to them! According to GPS flight mapping, they appear to be using the the river and the pathway outside bewdley road!

    1. Hello! The bat walks start from the ten acres woodland entrance on Cartland road. We then do a loop of the woodland and the park and return to base – but next time on the 18th we are going to concentrate our investigations near the bat box to try to pin down the suspected noctules and barbastelles

We had a fantastic time on our bat walk again this week and were excited to get clear recordings of the Noctule and Lesser Noctule bats this time as well as two new species of bat! We were unable to confirm the Barbastelle this week so we will try again […]
