This week volunteers took to the river bank by Sloe Bridge to begin work clearing the layers of dead entangled with the important live dogwood saplings and native field maple. It was hard work as layer upon layer had built up due to several massive crack willows having fallen down with growth then occurring over the top of them and several lengths of super thick bramble. The view to the river is slowly being restored and the understorey layer is starting to see light once again.
We also took a moment to relax near the top end of ten acres and watch for moor hens, the heron, robins and listen to owls and and bird song. We recorded the new species Brooklime which is in abundance in this top area.
