From Rain to Radiance: Volunteers Back at Harvest Green

Friday may have been a complete washout, but that certainly didn’t dampen our spirits! After being thoroughly rained off at the end of the week, our fantastic volunteers were back at it again on Saturday — and what a difference a day makes. The sudden burst of glorious sunshine, even with a definite chill still lingering in the air, gave us the perfect opportunity to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in.

This weekend saw us returning to Harvest Green for more bramble clearance work. While brambles are a natural part of the landscape, they can quickly take over if left unmanaged. Our focus was on opening up the river bank, giving established trees the breathing space they need to thrive, and improving visibility and access along the water’s edge.

As is often the case, tackling the bramble also revealed what had been hiding underneath — a surprising amount of litter and debris that had collected over time. Clearing it out not only improves the look of the area but also benefits local wildlife and the overall health of the green space.

It was a rewarding session, made even better by the sunshine and the great team spirit. There’s something special about seeing immediate results from hard work — especially when it helps restore and protect a much-loved local area.
