There’s something special about gathering together beneath the woodland canopy, where the crackle of the fire, the scent of the trees, and great company make for a memorable evening.
Last week at Ten Acres Woodland, we came together to share food, conversation, and time outdoors. Around the fire, we enjoyed a warming bowl of homemade Tom Kha Thai soup, fresh homemade flatbreads, plenty of snacks and drinks, and, of course, lots of laughter and good conversation.
Tom Kha is a traditional Thai coconut soup that is both comforting and full of vibrant flavours. Its distinctive taste comes from a wonderful combination of creamy coconut milk, fragrant lemongrass, galangal (a root similar to ginger but with a more citrusy flavour), kaffir lime leaves, fresh chilli, and lime juice. These ingredients create the perfect balance of creamy, tangy, spicy, and aromatic flavours, making it an ideal meal to enjoy around an open fire.
Spending time in the woods each week offers benefits that go far beyond enjoying a delicious meal. Research has shown that being surrounded by nature can help reduce stress, improve mood, lower blood pressure, and boost overall wellbeing. Taking a break from busy schedules and screens allows us to slow down, breathe more deeply, and reconnect—with nature, with others, and with ourselves. Sharing food around a fire adds another layer of connection, creating moments that remind us how important community and simple pleasures really are.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Whether you came for the food, the fire, the woodland, or the company, it was wonderful to spend the evening together.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to Ten Acres Woodland for another evening of good food, great conversation, and time spent in nature.
