Volunteering is back in 2023 thanks to both the WMCA and the Selly Oak NNS fund.
We are on site every Wedneday and Friday tackling a range of issues that built up over winter and working on continued opening up of the lost orchard area.
So far we have:
- Recruited new volunteers who have got stuck in with some really big jobs straight away!
- Litter picked the River Rea Blockage and cleared the blockage (over 50 bin bags of litter total)
- Had regular bell tent drop ins every wed and fri with a hot stove on the go serving food and drinks in the cold weather
- Talked to lots of people on site!
- Removed a falling crack willow over the main pathway
- Opened up more of the Lost orchard
- Conducted river health surveys with specialist Harry Gray
- Planted Alder trees, Weeping Willow trees and Goat Willow trees along with flower bulbs on the newly tilled river bank.
