Plantago Lanceolata, common names Plantain, Ribwort, Narrowleaf Plantain.
Family Plantaginaceae
Status Commonly Widespread typically on cultivated land.
Details Plantago Lanceolata has spear-shaped leaves that form a rosette at the base of the plant. Short stems grow from its leaves, with compact flower heads that display protruding white stamens. The flower heads gradually turn brown and seed.
Ten Acres Habitation
Plantago Lanceolata is found on the edge of the woodland along cartland road (classified now as Zone 1) where the grass is too close to the bramble to be cut. It can also be found in the mown grass across the cartland road entrance but because it is frequently mown it never achieves vertical height and is often unnoticed.
